2010 A Step Closer to Our Goals

2010 A Step Closer to Our Goals

Not to long ago i tried to put my family and i on a 12 day challenge. No meat and lots of veggies and beans. Didn't go well at all. From the get go one of my teenagers complained and said he was NOT on this challenge. My DH didn't complain but i think by the third night he went and got a late night snack (big juicy burger) (oh did i mention i snuck out and got me a candy bar) one of my daughters was great though she thanked me for trying so hard. It was also a challenge trying to get my toddler to eat the veggies. He is diabetic so that was a challenge. I also was trying to cut a lot of the breads out. No sandwiches my toddler really likes sandwiches but he seems to not be able to stomach the gluten. Anyway i think by day three i had just given up. Why was i challenging us to no meat? Normally for my family i would not take such a challenge i am all for the good meats in moderation. What brought me to this place is a movie i watch called raw foods. It was about several people who had diabetes who went to this center where they went on a like three months challenge (now can't remember how long it was) where they only ate raw foods and no foods with sugar (i believe no fruits) anyway many of these people by the end was soon off meds and insulin. Most of them were type two diabetics but 2 were type 1 and there was a change in them as well. Once they were at the end they were able to eat more variety but but still i believe vegan. Here is a link to there website http://www.treeoflife.nu/home-index/ Anyway i wasn't going to do exactly what they did i wasn't going to stick with all raw foods i still was going to allow them to have fruit and it was only going to be 12 days. Since i didn't have the outside help i needed. I have two children with diabetes and want to really try and help them in anyway i can. One of my sons that has type 1 diabetes also has two other diseases. In my studies vegan diet could be very helpful to us ex specially with disease in our family. This in my personally opinion is not for every one. And of course when going on vegan diet food exchange and supplementing is very important.
OK so for the new year challenge i was invited to a 21 day kick start vegan diet that starts on new years day. This seems pretty cool cause they will have recipes and send you emails to encourage you. Just the outside help i need!! It is also free. This is the link http://support.pcrm.org/site/PageServer?pagename=21day_vegan_kickstart I think this time i am not going to tell anyone that this is what i am doing i am just going to do it. I am curious what the meals will be like me having a big family i am sure I will have to make some changes. Also when they talk of this diet they talk of losing weight. This is not what i want for my family all my children do not need to lose weight and one really needs to put on a few pounds. So i may need to make a few alterations there. We shall see how it goes i will share with you how we are doing. Also at the end of the 21 days i may introduce meat back maybe have one feast day a week or something.
During the new year i not only want to pay close attention to our diet but i too want to be sure i pay close attention to God. In fact much more than food. Even if we are physically in tip top shape without Him we can be pretty darn sick. He is our true source of life and health. So i am going on a 2010 constantly seeking God challenge.
http://journeydeeperin2godsword.wordpress.com/2009/12/27/2010-constantly-seeking-god-challenge/
I also want to put together a program or goal for exercise and house keeping my home needs organized and a place of comfort and place we can invite others. I will have more on these goals later. I will also have goals for my biz. My family is my sunshine and it is my hearts desire to bring health to them in every way. Many time i don't follow my heart (lose sight along the way) but i hope to at least get a step closer!! Join me in 2010 a step closer to our goals!!!

For God So Loved the World

John 3:16-21

For God So Loved the World

16 “For God so loved the world, [15] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God"

Sing to the Lord a New Song

Psalm 149
"Sing to the Lord a New Song
149:1 Praise the Lord!Sing to the Lord a new song,his praise in the assembly of the godly!2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker;let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!3 Let them praise his name with dancing,making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;he adorns the humble with salvation.5 Let the godly exult in glory;let them sing for joy on their beds.6 Let the high praises of God be in their throatsand two-edged swords in their hands,7 to execute vengeance on the nationsand punishments on the peoples,8 to bind their kings with chainsand their nobles with fetters of iron,9 to execute on them the judgment written!This is honor for all his godly ones.Praise the Lord!"

Booting Bad Habbits

Booting Bad Habbits
Healthy living lets just face it is not easy know matter the knoweledge putting it to action is a whole other story. Not only is there a lot to learn, learning how to take those steps and having the will too is quite a task!! Within my heart i desire to live a healthy life physically and spiritually. Problem is i don't always follow that desire. But it is time time to boot some bad habbits!! Will you join me? What bad habbit will you boot? Just pick one to start with. Ok I'm taking the boot to diet cokes(or any soda). :) I have tryed this before and did stop drinking them but found myself right back where I started. Ok why diet coke after all they are Diet. Ok first that is just a catchy frase to get one to buy them. Two there is No nutritional value to them so how could they considered as good for the healthy diet. Another is they are very adictive. They are not natural all this is enough to say this is a unhealthy!! Not only that it is costly to tend to that Bad habbit. But it doesn't stop there there is much to say about the aspartame that is in the diet cokes! Part of change is getting educated then it is our responsibility to do something with what we learned. It is time for me do something positive with what i have learned so far. If i ignore the fact and possiblities if ignore that something could be costly to my health than it makes even easier to keep on keeping on with those bad habbits.So lets look at some more facts and/or possibilitie and not ignore anymore.
Sweeteners
"The three primary artificial sweetener currently in use are saccharin (Sweet'N Low), aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet), and sucralose (Splenda). These sweetners are among the most controversial of food additives. Advocates argue that the benefits provided outweigh the potential negative health effects. The perception is that consumption of these sweetners will lead to reduction of calories consumed. This in turn, will lead to weight loss or prevention of weight gain.Unfortunately, this is not the case as detailed studies have not shown these sweetners to reduce the amount of calories consumed or to have any significant effect on body weight. In fact aspartame may actually increase appetite.
So if these sweetners provide no benefits, what are the risks? Saccharin is a known cancer causing compound in rats. And while these effects have not been noted in humans, it must be pointed out that saccharin has been shown to cause cancer in rats only if it is administrated over two generations. Therefore it may be that future generations may pay for the current consumption of saccharin(Sweet in Low).
Aspartame is a compound of aspartic acid,phenylalanine, and methanol.
Richard Wurtman, M.D., the pioneer in the study of nutrition and the brain, cautioned the FDA that, based on his extensive research ,aspartame could significantly affect mood and behavior. Wurtman and other researchers have demostrated that aspartame administration to animals at levels comparable to those of high comsumption, alter brain chemistry.
While the long term affects largely unknown, some peope are quite sensitive to aspartame and report immediate reactions." Healing Foods by Micheal Murray N.D
I could go on and on but I shall stop there and encourage you to do some research on artificial sweetners.
What about diabetics you say? The American diabetes Assosiation says
"Myth: People with diabetes should eat special diabetic foods.
Fact: A healthy meal plan for people with diabetes is generally the same as a healthy diet for anyone – low in fat (especially saturated and trans fat), moderate in salt and sugar, with meals based on whole grain foods, vegetables and fruit. Diabetic and "dietetic" foods generally offer no special benefit. Most of them still raise blood glucose levels, are usually more expensive, and can also have a laxative effect if they contain sugar alcohols"
Yes as far as soda's are concerned if a diabetic was going to choose a diet soda or a regular soda choice would be diet but both are NOT healthy and both can have long term effects on you. So the thing would be to take the BOOT to BOTH

Wow i have not been to good about posting, would really like to work on posting daily. Anyway today i would like to post about my buisness a win win situation, how and why i got started.

I'm an independent distributor for Nature's Sunshine Products. Nature's Sunshine offers over 400 high-quality vitamin, mineral and herbal products.
http://www.mynsp.com/esuite/home/luvnatureshine/home

Real health (Natural Health) has sparked a great interest for me. Having two children with Chronic illness's has really led me to Learning and living the Naturaly Healthy life style. First working towards getting educated from Shonda Parker http://www.naturallyhealthy.org/ and trying one day at a time to live and eat healthy. In this walk toward healthy living i came across Haley on twitter @haysters then found her wonderful blog at

http://bodymindsoulfood.blogspot.com/ such and encouraging soul one whom i too can learn so much from. While connectiong with Hayley i learned she is Cleansing and Natural Health Consultant. specializing in helping people obtain the health benefits of cleansing using natural foods and products. She also provide general assistance in recommending the right Nature's Sunshine products for your health.

I new i needed to start eating healthier and feeding my family healthier. I often found that vitamins was just to expensive for my family of 7. Thinking we will eat right and get all those needed vitamins. I have since then found much easier said than done. In our society today it is next to impossible to get the vitamins you need without doing some supplementing. Also it is a long process to stop my unhealthy addictions and bad habbits and then try and inforce them on the rest of the family. Then getting the right amount of daily nutrients is another long process. I also have a son that takes medication he needs an extra boost do to the medication. So as you see i relized very quickly that supplements is a nessity along with healthy eating and exercise. So i decided to start buying for my family and found that through Natures Sunshine i can not only buy but sell as well and by becoming a member i too could get a descount!! I learned that As a Member, i could enjoy company-sponsored product and business training, world-class events and exotic vacations around the globe. With a recognition program acknowledging efforts as I develop new skills and talents while sharing improved health and prosperity with others. This to me is an all around healthy choice and another way to share the health :) So i jumped on board with Hayley. God keeps bringing me to some wonderful people what blessing and great opportunities on this healthful journey. Also am excited to learn and grow with Natures Sun Shine. You can find me with Natures Sun Shine on twitter @Luvnatureshine and on FB at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Luv-Natures-Shine/134478509329?ref=ts this is a place where I tweet,RT or post healthful info. A Ministry is Born

God has placed in us a life of love. There will be months of preparation we will no longer fit in our old cloths nor will we keep our comfort zone. A life of healthy living is allowing that love to grow, mature and be born. The more love grows within us the more discomfort will come! What is your calling? Let love live and you will see! As we nurture our relationship with God we nurture the love within us for God is love. As we practice loving-kindness we are feeding a ministry within us just waiting to be born. We must relize that we christians our pregnant with a calling upon our lives and we bare a gift, a gift from God. We must not give up in our long months of discomfort nor be impatient of the coming of that day when that gift is born. We have a calling in our lives. As the days come when we fight with pain and dispair, you must indure till the end for this could be labor pains! Rejoice my friends for in the end a ministry will be born!! This ministry that God has purposed for your life will bring peace and joy and will touch other lives and will Glorify God. Press on press on, press on till the end by the grace of God you can make it through and in the end the face of God will be smiling back at you!

Psalm 46
God Is Our Fortress
To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. [7] A Song.
46:1 God is our refuge and strength,
a very present [8] help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

23 It is he who remembered us in our low estate,for his steadfast love endures forever;24 and rescued us from our foes,for his steadfast love endures forever;25 he who gives food to all flesh,for his steadfast love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven,for his steadfast love endures forever.

The King of Glory, Praise Him

Psalm 24
The King of Glory
A Psalm of David.
24:1 The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, [1]
the world and those who dwell therein,
2 for he has founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the rivers.

3 Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to what is false
and does not swear deceitfully.
5 He will receive blessing from the Lord
and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob. [2] Selah

7 Lift up your heads, O gates!
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle!
9 Lift up your heads, O gates!
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory!

Cast Your Burden on the Lord

Posted by: Charity Gordon in

Psalm 55
Cast Your Burden on the Lord
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Maskil [1] of David.
55:1 Give ear to my prayer, O God,
and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy!
2 Attend to me, and answer me;
I am restless in my complaint and I moan,
3 because of the noise of the enemy,
because of the oppression of the wicked.
For they drop trouble upon me,
and in anger they bear a grudge against me.

4 My heart is in anguish within me;
the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
5 Fear and trembling come upon me,
and horror overwhelms me.
6 And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest;
7 yes, I would wander far away;
I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah
8 I would hurry to find a shelter
from the raging wind and tempest.”

9 Destroy, O Lord, divide their tongues;
for I see violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they go around it
on its walls,
and iniquity and trouble are within it;
11 ruin is in its midst;
oppression and fraud
do not depart from its marketplace.

12 For it is not an enemy who taunts me—
then I could bear it;
it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me—
then I could hide from him.
13 But it is you, a man, my equal,
my companion, my familiar friend.
14 We used to take sweet counsel together;
within God's house we walked in the throng.
15 Let death steal over them;
let them go down to Sheol alive;
for evil is in their dwelling place and in their heart.

16 But I call to God,
and the Lord will save me.
17 Evening and morning and at noon
I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
18 He redeems my soul in safety
from the battle that I wage,
for many are arrayed against me.
19 God will give ear and humble them,
he who is enthroned from of old, Selah
because they do not change
and do not fear God.

20 My companion [2] stretched out his hand against his friends;
he violated his covenant.
21 His speech was smooth as butter,
yet war was in his heart;
his words were softer than oil,
yet they were drawn swords.

22 Cast your burden on the Lord,
and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
the righteous to be moved.

23 But you, O God, will cast them down
into the pit of destruction;
men of blood and treachery
shall not live out half their days.
But I will trust in you.

Times Up

Posted by: Charity Gordon

In trying to catch up on the house work one thing I am doing is relying on my timer. I set my timer for 30min. and begin housework then when my 30min. is up I set it for 30min. again, durning this time I may spend little time on writing, working on buiz or go on FB or twitter or what ever but as soons as the bell rings time is up. I then set the timer for 30min and work on house. I go back and forth like this all day. The last time I set my timer is after dinner clean up. This helps me keep at work on house work and also stops me from spending to much time on other things. This makes it all about the timer not about the big to do. You soon find your actually getting somewhere! Give it a try and see if it works for you.

Thank you for stopping by!!

My Soul Thirst for You

Psalm 63:1-8
My Soul Thirsts for You
A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63:1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;my soul thirsts for you;my flesh faints for you,as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,beholding your power and glory.3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,my lips will praise you.4 So I will bless you as long as I live;in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,6 when I remember you upon my bed,and meditate on you in the watches of the night;7 for you have been my help,and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.8 My soul clings to you;your right hand upholds me.

A recent post was to "Picture it" Picturing where you want to be on your walk to healthful living. The thing that was and is screaming for change is the clutter all around in my home. This is where I want to take action. I am starting one room at a time. What is screaming for your attention right now? Did you picture it as to how you would like things to be? Right down the steps you need to take to get there then focus and take action. Don't think about everything else that needs your attention, just stay focused in one area.

So far I got a room cleaned. I am now painting the walls.Next I will get curtains and hang up things on the wall. This is my toddlers room. We also took down his crib and will soon have a toddler bed for him.

Consider posting your steps on your blog. What are you working on? Leave a comment with your link. Would love to here from you! Keep me posted on your progress and at the end of the month someone will win naturally handcrafted incense and incense stand. All those who participates will have a chance to win!!

Do Not Neglect the Gift that you have...

Posted by: Charity Gordon in

1 Timothy 4:7-16

7 Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 9 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. 10 For to this end we toil and strive, [5] because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
11 Command and teach these things. 12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, [6] so that all may see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Joy Comes With the Morning

Psalm 30
Joy Comes with the Morning

A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple.

30:1 I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me upand have not let my foes rejoice over me.2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,and you have healed me.3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit. [1]
4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,and give thanks to his holy name. [2]5 For his anger is but for a moment,and his favor is for a lifetime. [3]Weeping may tarry for the night,but joy comes with the morning.
6 As for me, I said in my prosperity,“I shall never be moved.”7 By your favor, O Lord,you made my mountain stand strong;you hid your face;I was dismayed.
8 To you, O Lord, I cry,and to the Lord I plead for mercy:9 “What profit is there in my death, [4]if I go down to the pit? [5]Will the dust praise you?Will it tell of your faithfulness?10 Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!O Lord, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;you have loosed my sackclothand clothed me with gladness,12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

For many of us healthful living seems to far to reach. A healthy,home, body, soul, or all of the above can seem imposible to obtain. You get behind on housework you look at the mess all around and think how could I ever get caught up. Your weight may not be where you would like it but you have been this way so long "how could you really make the change you need to make" you ask yourself. We wonder how we can find enough time to feed our souls with Gods Holy scripture, to pray, to gether with other believers. Things can seem so far to reach that we can't see it anymore.

Where is it that you struggle most? Lets picture in our minds where we would like to be. For me I would like to see a clean and well kept home. When I look around and see the mess it appears to be an impossible task a mountain I could not possibly climb! Ok lets close our eyes and picture it, clean home or how about starting with one room we can move on to next once we get there. Ok for me when I picture a clean home I too picture a nice decourated home. Maybe a fresh coat of paint, new curtains, maybe move things around. Ok now get a piece of paper and write down this picture and remember when doing this our ultimate goal is healthful living. If your picturing your self at a certain weight don't get to caught up on weight(there are people all shapes and sizes who's health is threatened!!) remember the true purpose and that is the healthful life and living. It is to live the life God purposed us to live.

After you picture it and write it down, then write how you are going to get there. Step by Step getting closer and closer to your goal.

Thank you for joining me today please to come back to the next post "Ready and Action"

Watching the World Through Glass Pans
"Our world is changing; no one can doubt that. Our view of the world has become smaller; no one will argue that. And these views open us to something very frightening, disturbing and sobering. My hand reaches for the blinds. My first instinct is to pull the curtain, lock the window and retreat to my vain and selfish desires. How easy it is to passionately strive for worldly things and at the same time block out the world while doing it. We rush toward Wall Street while the child starves. We have pulled the curtain on love. We forget from Whom we come; for Whom we exist." By Angela Zimmerman
please go to http://onebrighthour.wordpress.com/ read and be inspired to open the curtains of love!!

Fear

Posted by: Charity Gordon

I think fear grips most of us. Some of us have overcome some of our fears but with some fears still lingering on that we didn't even relize were there. I am relizing it is time to face fear! What is it that I fear? Having 2 children with type 1 diabetes as well as other autoimune diseases, I can say fear has slapped me in the face on just the health and well being of my children alone. Though the fear doesn't stop there for me, I am afraid of failure as a parent, wife, sister, neighbor, and child of God. Even though I know falling isn't failing. I am afraid to stand up for my faith at times 'cause I want everyone to like me, "people pleasier" Many times I am afraid to take a leap of faith and just trust God.

This is why I am so glad to here about the book Fearless by Max Lucado to find out how you can get a copy go to http://michaelhyatt.com/2009/08/book-notes-fearless.html I am racing to get mine!! :)

Thank you for stopping by and I pray that you have a fearless day :)

A dose of Jesus a day keeps our health @ bay

Posted by: Charity Gordon

An apple a day keeps the doctor away or not. We must rely on the good physician our Lord and savior Jesus Christ for wisdom and strength to eat the good apples. What are the good apples and why are they so important for our bodies. We must first have that desire, nothing like pain to get you there.

Not without knocking me on my knees first being humble before God and then the desire for better health. The pain began as I saw my son sickness get worse rather than better. A stomach virus that wouldn't go away is how it all began. I've been through this before with the kids feeling bad for a little while, throw up a few times then all better, but this is not the way it went this time. He stopped throwing up but didn't get better. After just four days of being sick he was so weak he could not walk. Off to the doctor we went, I carried my 3rd grader into the doctors office. As soon as the visit was over we found it wasn't over. The doctor said to take my son to children's hospital right away!

To make a long story short he was hospitalized. They ran all kinds of tests on him. The pain set in as I watched my child sitting in the hospital bed not knowing what was wrong the what ifs the helplessness, the Dear God No! After about six days he was released from the hospital with one test still pending. After being home we had to rush him to the ER 3 separate times, due to throwing up and weakness. More pain, more what ifs, more Dear God No!! By the third ER trip the one pending test came back and while he was in the ER they ran more test to find out he had Addison's Disease. From an autoimmune disorder where his own immune system attack his adrenal glads causing him to not produce enough adrenalin.

He would have to be on medicine for the rest of his life they said. And anytime he would get sick he would need to take a stress dose (extra dose) to keep from it becoming another emergency situation. I was a little health conscious then but just a little. I defiantly found myself seeking God all the more, cause that's what we do right call on God when things are bad.

A few years went by we found that my son had hashimoto's and then not long after that he went in for regular endocrine checkup and did his usual blood work I ask them to check him for diabetes because of his excessive thirst, complaints of dry mouth and needing to go to the rest room a lot. Sure enough his blood glucose was 800 and something. He was hospitalized yet again we had to learn a new way of eating and how to give shots and how much insulin to give. More pain and more adjusting to a new way of life.

God got us through yet again. We had to be carbohydrate conscious, count those carbs to know how much insulin to give. Now eating "healthy" was even more on my agenda. After reading many books I realized eating healthy really meant getting as close to natural foods as possible. And of course bringing as much fruits and veggies in as possible.

Just as I was getting use to our way of life we were hit again this time my baby became ill. My 15 month son on Thanksgiving day was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I was sure after this I was falling into depression as I had many bouts of tears. One minute I was like OK we can do this another minute I would be in tears I can't do this.

It didn't take too long for the joy to come back and my eagerness to eat healthy the more I learned the more I realized how I needed to get back to God. That He was my strength in all this, He was my greatest and most true source of health. It is with my Savior Jesus Christ who can give me guidance on this road of Healthful living it is he who will pick me up when I fall and yes I will fall. A dose of Jesus a day keeps our health at bay even if we lay sick in a hospital bed because with him we find peace and eternal life. Though this should not keep us from doing everything we can to be good stewards of our bodies seeking wisdom and guidance along the way. Asking in prayer that we may take action on that which we learn. May we put our full trust in our Lord Jesus and take a step of faith each day and every day towards healthful living. He is the tree of life it is from Him all good things were made. May we take a bite of the apples that come from Him. With a dose of Jesus we can gain the strength to walk away from the bad apples. Everyday is a journey may we walk together with him and bring forth that which is learned. May we walk towards whole health, body,spirit and mind. Jesus is the Way!

Thank you so much for stopping by I hope you will join me on the journey of Healthful living. I am learning as I go with my eyes on Jesus. Little steps and big steps, stumbled steps and all. Please come and visit me each day and I pray that each time you stop by you will be encouraged to take a bite out of the good apples straight from the hand of God.

"Love Without Words"

Posted by: Charity Gordon

What if you couldn't speak how would you share the gosspel? At one point in my life I was blessed to work with deaf people. I was a bus aid and we carried hearing empaired children. The bus driver and I were determined to be able to communicate with these preciouse children so we took classes. In taken the classes and spending time with these children we learned how expression and movement was very important when communicating with each other. For these children to "speak louder" or to be heard they had to really emphasize movement and there face expressions. This was there way to communicate effectivly and to be understood. A launguage that could only be seen and not heard. If they didn't want to listen they would just close their eyes. Dear God may we open up our eyes and learn the language of love. Let us use our hands to reach out to others. May our hearts speak the laungage of love without words. We often speak words that our empty because we say one thing and do another. As we see the love of Christ we see love in action. Love should be stirred up within our hearts so much so that it spills out on those around us. Let us try and put our focus on what we are doing or not doing. Love speaks many launguages the one that speaks loudest is that which is spoken with our hands.

The picture is from Mindy Spradlin. You can see more love in action on Mindy's blog My journey to Ethiopia and Uguanda @ http://mindygoestoafrica.blogspot.com/ and may we too be inspired to speak the laungage that is spoken with our hands and reach out and touch someone.

Eight daily steps of simply living

Posted by: Charity Gordon

Lots of clutter with in, many things are distracting me from the straight and narrow path. Ok so how do we get started. I always have great ideas on getting my house in order and keeping it that way. There are all kind of intensions I have for my home as well as my spiritual life and my family life but I find my self with lead in my shoes. Can't pick those feet up. We will attempt to remove some of the led by simplifing our life but we will learn to walk with what can't be removed, things that might be out of our control or things that might just take time. Remember the whole process will take time anyway. Prayer and reading the bible are things that will help lighten our load.Jesus is the one who can carry our burdens. Another thing we need to do is confess our sins and give them to God. So that He can forgive us and free us from the bondage of sin. There's a big weight lifted there! "What can make us whole again nothing but the blood of Jesus" What can't be lifted let God help you carry ask this in prayer.
Let us give God each day and try these eight steps of simply living.

1st step~ start your mornings out with releaseing everything to God. "O Jesus, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day... Give him your whole heart, sins anxieties, concerns what ever is on your heart(or what you may be stuffing away) give it to God. Pray scripture. Look for good tools to help direct you.

2nd step~ spend an hour doing things you have been putting off. Stay focused on what needs your most urgent attention

3rd~ step outside yourself. What can you do for someone else. Write a letter, call a family member. Start putting aside money for someone in need. Put those words that you put into your heart and that comes out of your mouth, (the words of love) and put them into action. Reach out and hug someone. ((((HUGS)))

4th step ~ Fill up a big trash bag with things to give away and another one with things to throw away.

5th step~Take time to say another prayer. Hear is the Acceptance of God's Will, prayer. In all things may the most holy, the most just, and the most loveable will of God be done, praised and exalted above all for ever. Your will be done, O Lord, your will be done. The Lord has given; and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord now and always. Amen.(prayer taken from the Catholic Pocket Prayer Book)

6th step~take away one bad habbit and replace it with a good one

7th step~look at how you are manageing your time. Do some planning to help you use your time wisely. Are there things within our time frame that is distracting us from what really matters in life?

8th step~ Pray scripture before you go to sleep and say the Lords prayer and anything that is on your heart. Pray for others and give thanks to God.
May we give each and every day to God so that we may magnify Him and bless those around us. Let the Love of Christ shine through us as a living well that never runs dry. Amen.

Simplicity

Posted by: Charity Gordon

The dictionary defines simplicity as being "direct, clear; free of pretense or dishonesty; free of vanity, ostentation, and undue display; free of secondary complications and distractions."

Anything that distracts us from the love of God complicates our lives. Simplicity is where Faith, hope and love is present at its fullest. We should be continually moving towards a life more simplified. We do not gain the life of simplicity in a day. This is an everyday progress. Little by little day by day. We must gently peel back layers that clutter up our lives making room for God, relatitonships and servant hood. When our lives are full of clutter the only room we have for is ourselves. It is as a jar filled with air, when you look inside it is considered empty. May our heart be filled with an everlasting love that springs up like a living well as we walk in faith, holding onto the hope we have in Jesus Christ our Lord. Pushing away the things that clutter up our lives. Our we too busy for our famlies, to busy for our friends, too busy to make new friends, to busy for God? Are our hearts filled with weeds that choke the vine? May we weed out that which clutters up our lives so that we may fully serve the Lord as we grow in our relationship with Him, reaching out in love to those around us.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 (New International Version)
8But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasure on earth, where it grows rusty and moth-eaten, and thieves break in to steal it. Store up treasure in heaven....for wherever your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)

"If a man has enough to live on, and yet when he sees his brother in need shuts up his heart against him, how can it be said that the divine love dwells in him?" (John 3:17)

1 Corinthians 13:13 (New International Version) 13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Even When it Hurts

"But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love," Psalm 33:20

Look upon your heavenly father as a child looks up at mommy and daddy. This is where healthful living must begin!!

Matthew 18:1-4 (New International Version)
1At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"
2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

A young child's trust and faith in their parents is so great! They could walk blindly into the arms of their parents knowing they would make it there safely. The love and trust stands them so tall that even in the most hardest times they do not turn away!

My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 15 months we had been through this with our other son but not at such a young age. Are little guy is 22 months now. So we are still in our beginnings. When the little guy was diagnosed, the thought of having to poke him with a needle and give him a moment of pain did not rest easy on us. How could we explain this to our son who was and is to young to understand that we were doing this for his good? Would he lose faith in us? No he did not. OK, we would say, "it is time for your medicine," as Daddy gently held him tight as to keep him from moving while Mommy gave him his shot. We would do all that we could to make it as pleasant as we could inviting him to look out the window and look at the birds. The little one would point ooooh bird. He would fuss a bit when I gave him a poke and then go to me and say all done. Even though he didn't and doesn't understand, when we were all done he did not turn away but embraced us.

Let us do as a little child and embrace our heavenly Father even when we don't understand. Let us remember He is our true source of health and that we are in the arms of a loving Father who knows best. He knows what is truly good for us. Yes even when it hurts.

Nourishment for our soul

Time with God is nourishment for our soul.

Healthy bodies with healthy souls they work together

Posted by: Charity Gordon

We can not truly nourish our bodies without nourishing our souls. We can be eating all the healthiest foods and not be healthy if we are not nourishing our souls. We can be doing all the good works as possible without nourishment to our souls this all is in vain. Healthy living can not be set aside from our walk with God. God is our creator and provider. He is the true source of life!

And as they were eating, he took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly, I say to you, I shall not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” -- Mark 14:22-25

Genesis 2:7 (New International Version)
7 the LORD God formed the man [
a] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

John 6:35 (New International Version)
35Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

John 6:53 (New International Version)
53Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

John 8:12 (New International Version)
The Validity of Jesus' Testimony 12When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

John 11:25 (New International Version)
25Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;

John 20:31 (New International Version)
31But these are written that you may[a] believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. [a]
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Why did God create us to need nutritious food? So that we might rely on the creator our provider. So the next time you plan to be "healthy" don't leave Jesus behind he is the giver of life and health without Him you will just run into a wall. So let us be good stewards of our bodies and eat that which is nutritious to our bodies and souls.

Declutter

Posted by: Charity Gordon

4 "Show me your ways, Oh Lord, teach me your paths; 5 guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all the day long. 6 Remember Oh Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.

Psalms 25:4-6

Lets keep reading scripture on hope and write it down. Keep praying the Lords prayer and what ever is on your heart.

This week also think Declutter in every area of our lives.

Home-This week will be about getting rid of things. Get some big trash bags and start filling them with things to through away or give away. Start with the bedrooms and work your way to the rest of the house.

Heart-Is there something you need to get rid of in your heart. Confess it to Our Lord Jesus Christ, need to be forgiven, need to forgive. Bitterness, hate, anger, let go of it. Read scripture on the Love of God.

Family-Put all things aside and have a family night or day

Body-Is there something you just eat or drink to much of that is unhealthy? Sodas? Lesson your amount of soda drinking slowly getting to the point where you don't drink them anymore.

Thank you for stopping by :)

Never lose hope

Healthful living isn't without set backs. Life is hard and can through some stuff at you to slow you down. Stress can keep us from eating healthy and for some of us keep us from doing our daily tasks. Healthful living means to keep moving forward. Its about picking yourself back up and moving onward in every area of healthy living, walking with God, what we eat, exercise, household chores and our relationships; keep moving forward. We will be distracted we will fall we will get set back but we can continue to move forward. Never lose hope!! This week our homework will be too look up scripture on hope and write it down.

Healthful Family

Posted by: Charity Gordon

Healthy food isn't the only thing that requires a healthy human being. What is in our hearts can effect our physical being as well as our relationships with others. Biterness can have a effect on our bodies. Unforgiveness can have a negative effect on us. What ever is in our hearts will poor out into our relationships. When we allow God to work through our hearts love will pour out of your heart and onto those around you. We then find ourselves being kind and practicing patience and so on. So let us pray that God will continue to move in our heart that we may practice patience to those around us. We pray that the Lord will help us listen more. My hearts desire is that I start listening to my daughter more. Who could you listen to more? Let Love flow oh Lord. Amen.
