After the Blizzard is gone...

Posted by: Charity Gordon

After the Blizzard is gone and the sun shines brightly and the wind blows ever so lightly. You here the birds singing, rejoicing in such a beautiful day. Reminded of Gods wonders and grateful for the blizzards passing. Grateful for the new day, we savor its very first day. When cabin fever is gone and we step out into the sunshine. We enjoy Gods creations with our friends and family, taking it all in while it lasts.

We just recently had us a pretty good snow storm, cold enough to keep us in for a week. Icy enough to keep the schools closed for 4 days. Now the ice has gone the sun shines and an awesome breeze blows through the air. I here of the cold returning to play so taking in these gorgeous days. And Oh how we enjoy these days all the more after the storm.

Another horrific storm is when sickness or tragedy hits. Sickness has hit my family numerous times. Sickness is even more horrific when one already has an illness. Recently my 3 year old son who has type 1 diabetes came down with a stomach virus. No fever but throwing up regularly. No appetite for food and could barely even keep his water down. He had large diabetic ketones. He was very sick I talked to on call endo doc, she help me with sick days for type 1 diabetics and she said if he didn't get better take him to the ER. We followed her instructions and one of the things we had to do is give him insulin even though his blood glucose was NOT high and even though he was not eating because of risk of DKA. The fear of DKA (Diabetic ketoacidosis) and a low (Hypoglycemia) was there. We were walking on egg shells. Many many extra BG checks. And medicine to try and stop him from getting sick. Finally he stopped getting sick. A relief though still not out of the woods. We needed to make sure the ketones was gone. After much water and some insulin the ketones were finally gone. Major relief there we could stay home we didn't have to head to the hospital. Praising God!!! It took another day before he gained his appetite and energy back. Such a joy to have him home and well!!! It was beautiful out when he was sick to ill to go out in it. So I said soon he would be better and I would take him to the park and we would feed the ducks. God helped me keep that promise and gave us more beautiful days. As soon as he got well he remembered and asked to go to the park and feed the ducks. So off we went me and the little guy to the park. He was so excited to see all the ducks coming toward him to eat the bread as he tossed it to them! I was so excited to see his excitement and to take in such a beautiful along side him!! The ice is gone....Look and see what the Lord has done!!!

My bundle of joy

Posted by: Charity Gordon

I am so grateful several days now my little man has been feeling great!! He is up playing around again with all his imaginary play :) Yesterday he was dancing and singing while big sisters watched and laughed at his little cuteness :) He made up his own little song and his own little dance LOL too cute. My bundle of joy I must capture every moment his siblings have grown so fast and I know so will he...Ups and downs everyday...his cuteness and his little imaginary play puts a smile on my face I so hate that he has to live with diabetes. The daily shots and the BG roller coasters...

We have been battling the BG's been working on getting those levels down. With a toddler it is so hard. There appetites vary and they want to nibble on something constantly. I was so happy to see below 200 yesterday. Praying we will see more of those today.

Today another day ready to tackle the ups and the downs as we go about our day. Many tasks ahead with joy and sorrow woven in between. Many colors weave each day and blanket us with our Heavenly Fathers love...<3 May we feel His warm embrace as we journey along.

Winter Weather here

Posted by: Charity Gordon

So many days of not posting urrrr. I really like to treat this as a journal and hopefully someone out there can relate or be encouraged in at least something I write. Just living our lives one day at a time.

This week we have been experiencing real winter weather here in Texas!! First ice then snow. Local schools were closed 4 days in a row!! It is a bit cold here in the house so layers of clothing and under the blanket. Even though I have been doing a lot of sitting I have been some what productive since I have been working on my real estate course. Setting goals and should have the course I am currently working on done by this week end. Since neighboring schools have been closed I gave my children a brake from school as well. Which gave me more time for mine.

My little man has spent much time sitting next to me. He has felt a bit under the weather not real active and a bit cranky. No fever or cold just inactive. Which the cold weather kind of does that to you. So for the first couple of days that is why I thought he was inactive. Now I am seeing differently. Blood glucose has been up and down. He is not himself. He doesn't know what he wants to eat when finally he agree on something he only eats a little then ask for something else. Doing this even more than usual. He also has been telling me his tummy hurts a little bit. The has happened with him before and he was checked out for celiac disease. I won't get into all that now. Though they found that there was no damage to the intestine so they see that he does not have celiac disease. They did have some findings something about an allergen and an unusual bacteria that they treated him for. He had been doing fine lately just seems to get this way every now and then. It has been along time since he last acted this way. I keep saying I am going to record what he eats to see if he has some kind of allergy to something he eats. It is hard to do though because he is so picky and keeping track is no easy task. Praying he will back to his self soon.

That is all for now...Thanks for stopping by RroadWeTravel
